LET’S TALK ABOUT MONEY

Legitimate Concerns

We get it—sometimes it feels like churches are always asking for money. That can be uncomfortable, especially if you’ve ever felt pressured to give or have seen your generosity misused. Sadly, there are more than a few cases where pastors have caused harm or broken trust in their handling of money.

Faithful Stewards

So at Vineyard Church, we strive to always be faithful stewards of the financial resources entrusted to us. We believe giving isn’t about guilt or obligation. It’s about worship, trust, and partnering in what God is doing through the church. We work hard to be wise and transparent with every dollar, making sure it goes toward real ministry—helping people, serving our community, and supporting the mission God has called us to.

Being a Family

We also believe the church is like a family. And just like in any household, there are shared responsibilities. Giving is one way we all pitch in—whether it’s keeping the lights on, supporting staff, or making space for ministry to happen. It’s not about pressure; it’s about being part of the family and carrying the load together.

Becoming Like Jesus

And most importantly, growing in generosity is part of growing as a disciple of Jesus. God has been extravagantly generous toward us, and as we follow Jesus, we learn to live with open hands—trusting Him more fully, even with our finances. Because generosity isn’t just about money; it’s about becoming more like Jesus: open-hearted, compassionate, and ready to invest in what truly matters.

Our Promise

So while we can’t promise to be a church that never talks about money, we can promise this: in everything related to finances, we’ll lead with integrity and care.

We will be:
Open and approachable
Honest and accountable
Thoughtful and resourceful
Faithful and hopeful

We believe what Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 9:8:
“God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

That’s the kind of trust and generosity we want to grow in—together. Should you have any other questions, contact one of our Lead Pastors, Pat Mulcahy or Tom Lanham, or our Treasurer, Dave Wagner.
